UMBRIA – A single ticket opens the doors to museums across a dozen Umbrian cities. The innovative "Umbria Terre Musei – 12 Cities, One Treasure" pass provides access to sixteen museum sites spanning from Amelia in the south to Umbertide in the north.

Participating municipalities include Amelia, Bettona, Bevagna, Cannara, Cascia, Deruta, Marsciano, Montefalco, Montone, Spello, Trevi, and Umbertide – each contributing unique cultural attractions to this collaborative initiative.

How the Pass Works

The unified ticket can be purchased at any participating museum location. Visitors choose between two validity periods:

  • 15-day pass for shorter cultural tours
  • 3-month pass for extended exploration

Standard admission costs €7, with reduced rates of €5 and €2 available for eligible visitors. Residents of participating towns receive special pricing, and entry to their home municipality's museum remains complimentary.

A Regional Cultural Strategy

The program extends beyond simple ticketing. Sistema Museo developed a comprehensive marketing campaign featuring unified branding across all communication channels, designed to reach both domestic and international cultural travelers.

Spello currently serves as the coordinating municipality for the Terre & Musei dell'Umbria network. The initiative launched at a presentation held at Palazzo Donini in Perugia, hosted by the regional government.

"The unified ticket represents more than increased visitor numbers – it's about cultural enrichment for citizens," explained Antonella Pinna, Director of Museum Services and Library Superintendent for Umbria Region. "This aligns perfectly with European objectives: not just growing audiences, but elevating cultural engagement across communities."

Cultural Investment with Community Impact

Pinna emphasized the broader significance: "Initiatives that expand offerings while stimulating demand are both commercially promising and ethically important. Cultural investment yields economic returns while enhancing community wellbeing and social inclusion, promoting active citizenship."

She noted Umbria's forward-thinking approach to museum management: "The region demonstrated innovation early. A 2004 audit by the Court of Auditors highlighted Umbria's best practices in museum governance."
